Merrick Belyea is the focus of a major feature in the latest issue of Art Collector magazine, which includes a six‑page essay by writer Victoria Laurie and photography by Bianca Woolhouse.

The article examines Saturn Eats His Own: Pilbara Paintings, Merrick’s most recent body of work exploring one of Western Australia’s most elemental and contested regions. Working in oil on aluminium, the artist maps the exposed strata of the Pilbara, where vast geological time intersects with the contemporary pressures of resource extraction.

The feature also includes contributions from Alan R. Dodge and Felicity Johnston, offering additional perspectives on the significance of this new work within the broader context of Australian art.
